Planning a vacation? Why not try the island of Kauai—the “Garden Isle” of Hawaii?
A main attraction of Kauai is the Na Pali coast, located on the north shore of the island. Na Pali literally translates, “the cliffs.” With no roads entering Na Pali, the best ways to experience Na Pali’s natural beauty is to hike, sail or raft.
Even though no roads enter Na Pali, there
are several trails leading into “the cliffs.” However, these trails are not for the faint of heart and can sometimes be dangerous; rescue from these trails are close to impossible. The most popular Na Pali trail is to Hanakapi’ai, where hiking is allowed by permit only. Hiking Na Pali is considered very arduous and boating is recommended as a less strenuous route to Na Pali.
Na Pali is also one of the best places to take a Kauai snorkeling tour or enjoy Kauai whale watching. You can even go on an archeological exploration in Na Pali’s ancient Hawaiian fishing village of Nu ‘alolo Kia.
All in all, Na Pali is a beautiful place to take the family and experience secluded island beauty.
