Popular Summer Destinations: Florence (Part 2)

Yesterday, I introduced you to one of my favorite summer destinations, Florence. But, while it’s easy to get lost in golf hazards of bunkers, greens, and dog legs, one must not overlook the fine artistry inspired the scenery. The Capital of Tuscany, Florence is called the Renaissance City. Everywhere you turn there’s a fountain, inspiring buildings, art galleries, and museums.

One of the most popular museums in Florence is the Galleria dell’ Accademia (Academy Gallery). Often full and crowded, the museum’s main attraction is Michelangelo’s colossal statue of David. For some, “the perfect man” is the sole purpose for a visit, but the also features other works by Michelangelo and other artists. During peak season, the wait time could exceed three or hour hours, but it’s definitely worth it to see the world’s most famous sculpture.

Florence’s other popular museum is the Uffizi. Regarded as the most famous art museum in the world and opened since the 16^th century, the Uffizi houses collections by Raphael, Simone Martini, Titian, and Caravaggio. Much like the Academy Gallery, a long delays are expected, however tickets can be purchased in advance to reduce wait time.
